Meredith College requires a program of general education that assures that all teachers will be broadly educated and able to meet the needs of all students in an era of change. Using that philosophy as a model, students do not major in education, but complete a liberal arts major in the field of their choice. Successful completion of the teacher education program, taken in addition to the major, leads to a North Carolina teaching license. If the student plans to practice in a state other than North Carolina, it is the responsibility of the student to confirm if the degree and licensure they are pursuing will be accepted in the state where the student plans to practice.
Meredith offers the following programs for undergraduates to earn North Carolina teacher licensure:
Middle Grades (6-9)
Secondary Education (9-12)
Arts (K-12)
Foreign Language (K-12)
Special Subject Areas
Early MAT Programs

*Please note: Licensure requirements are subject to change to comply with state requirements.
