“The M.A. in Biomedical Sciences’ rigorous graduate curriculum allows students to demonstrate their ability to handle the demands of work at the professional school level. This program also provides unique professional skills training coupled with highly individualized advising by faculty who are experts in the healthcare field.”

Our MABMS Program

The Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences (MABMS) prepares students for careers as healthcare providers. The challenging curriculum trains students at the graduate level in biomedical sciences and provides professional development for students pursuing a variety of healthcare careers, including medicine, dentistry, physician assistant studies, and physical therapy, or seeking employment in the healthcare industry.

MABMS provides a strong foundation for students in the areas of pre-clinical science, healthcare ethics, and preventative health. The non-thesis master’s program consists of 31 graduate credit hours (eleven courses). Seven courses cover scientific foundations of medicine, two cover ethics and statistical foundations of evidence-based healthcare, and two are professional development courses.

Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences vs. Pre-Health Certificate Program

The MABMS is designed for individuals who have taken basic life sciences courses and done well in them. Such students need to take higher-level courses to secure entry into an advanced healthcare program.

In contrast, the pre-health certificate program is designed for individuals who are changing careers as well as those who need to repeat basic life sciences courses to enhance their profile with graduate healthcare programs.
