This camp, taught by Meredith College English Department faculty, offers students of all gender identities, ages 10-14, a week of writing, creativity, and fun. The week will include:

• creative writing exercises and games
• daily discussions of creative writing topics like characterization, setting, imagery, and dialogue with exercises to enhance our discussions
• time outside for socialization, recreation, and individual writing
• one-on-one conferences between writers and instructors
• group-wide sharing of and feedback about creative work
• a field trip to the NC Museum of Art to write about visual art
• a reading of the young writers’ work for parents and friends

The $375 registration fee includes writing materials, a camp t-shirt, daily lunches, and snacks each day.

Meredith College High School Writing Workshop

This workshop is a summer creative writing program for high school-aged students (ages 14-18) of all gender identities. Our program offers aspiring writers a chance to work with Meredith College creative writing faculty, all of whom are published writers, in a small-group workshop setting. Instruction will focus on several genres, including fiction, personal essay, and poetry, and will include both peer workshop and one-on-one feedback from instructors.

Because we want this to be an intensive, focused experience for our participants, space is limited to 12 students. Enrollment is first come, first served.

The $225 enrollment fee includes daily snacks, a camp t-shirt, and writing materials.
