Social work is a highly marketable profession with a variety of flexible career opportunities. The social work program promotes academic excellence and affirms principles of diversity, global citizenship, human rights, and social and economic justice. The program offers learning experiences through which students will acquire the knowledge, values, and skills required to enter practice as professional social workers and to continue their education at the graduate level.

Attend graduate school for:

  • Master of Social Work (complete a B.S.W at Meredith College and become eligible for one-year advanced standing M.S.W graduate programs)
  • Dual-degrees in social work and a variety of areas includinglaw, public policy, business, public health, and divinity
  • Ph.D. in social work
  • Master or doctoral programs in related fields such as psychology, counseling, sociology, public administration, law, public health, health care, and political science

 

Options for the major:

  • B.S.W. in social work
  • Double major or minor in any additional related area including public health, psychology, Spanish, sociology, and criminology
  • Semester-long supervised internship in the community
  • Other experiential opportunities
