Greetings Meredith Alumnae!

Spring has arrived and Summer is not far behind. As many of you know, this is the time of year we celebrate MEREDITH REUNION WEEKEND on May 18-20, 2012. This year, we honor the classes ending in a two or seven along with Distinguished Alumnae. Even though we may not be celebrating your class reunion this year, we hope you will consider attending the weekend events.  We've created a terrific agenda this Alumnae Weekend that will appeal to everyone.  As always, Reunion Weekend cements your connection to the College and keeps you informed. We look forward to seeing all of you!

Your Alumnae Board of Directors has been productive since last year's Reunion. Together with you, we have held over 45 Chapter Events across 20 cities and states with President Allen joining us at 15 of these events. The results of these Chapter Events have been most positive; we are striving to increase giving for the College and gaining momentum. In January, we held an extremely successful Alumnae prospective student recruitment event called Discover Meredith. So many of you have encouraged prospective students to consider Meredith, helped them finance their educations, provided internships to enrich their learning, launched them on their careers, and volunteered your time to sustain the bonds of friendship started here in Raleigh. In countless ways, you have embraced your successors and are partners in the work of Meredith.

Many of you have reconnected with Meredith for the first time in many years; we welcome you back! For those of you who have remained engaged with Meredith over the years, we thank you most sincerely for your continued support, time and treasure. The Mission of this College lives each day in the work that you do around the world. In the coming months and years, I look forward to learning about the paths you chose to pursue after Meredith, and how your education here prepared you.

Our financial support of Meredith is vital to the continuation and success of this institution. If you have not already contributed to the Meredith Fund, please do so. Your gifts support scholarships, teaching fellowships and crucial research projects of Meredith students and faculty.

I recently read an inaugural address from 1936 and was struck by a quote I found most fitting for Meredith: "You are the stuff of an institution, and what you are, it will be." Your individual and collective stories and accomplishments are the stuff of Meredith's history. Your legendary love and support of your alma mater keeps you involved in Meredith's present as we prepare for her future.

In the months ahead, I will keep you informed of our Alumnae Board's strategic thinking, planning, and activities.  This comes now with my gratitude for the work you do in your own communities, and for keeping time and space in your lives for Meredith.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Dove, '84
