The Meredith College Poll
Administered by the Department of History, International Studies, Political Science, and Religion, The Meredith College Poll is part of the College’s commitment to civic engagement. Students conduct this poll of registered N.C. voters each semester, and gain hands-on polling experience.
This report, released by Meredith College, found that in North Carolina, women make up more than 54% of registered voters, but hold less than 25% of elected and appointed offices. The report uses data about women as voters and elected leaders throughout the state to offer recommendations for improving women’s underrepresentation in politics.
Strong Stories
Through a wide range of leadership roles, faculty support, and internships, international studies and political science major Danika Ray, ’24, gained confidence and skills that will set her up for success in her studies at Campbell Law School.
Honors scholar Elena Blackwelder, ’23, worked with her advisor to develop a unique major to fully explore her interests. Find out how she designed her own contract major and why she values a personalized approach to education.
Religious and ethical studies major Ellie Jones, ’20, will continue her studies at the University of Montana in Missoula, where she will pursue an M.A. in environmental philosophy with full funding and a teaching assistant position.
Study in North Carolina’s Capital
Meredith’s location in North Carolina’s capital is ideal. Students can see state government in action, intern at historic sites and museums, and explore educational opportunities at international businesses in nearby Research Triangle Park.
