The Meredith College Poll

Administered by the Department of History, International Studies, Political Science, and Religion, The Meredith College Poll is part of the College’s commitment to civic engagement. Students conduct this poll of registered N.C. voters each semester, and gain hands-on polling experience.

The Status of Women in N.C. Politics

This report, released by Meredith College, found that in North Carolina, women make up more than 54% of registered voters, but hold less than 25% of elected and appointed offices. The report uses data about women as voters and elected leaders throughout the state to offer recommendations for improving women’s underrepresentation in politics.

Strong Stories

Through a wide range of leadership roles, faculty support, and internships, international studies and political science major Danika Ray, ’24, gained confidence and skills that will set her up for success in her studies at Campbell Law School.

Religious and ethical studies major Ellie Jones, ’20, will continue her studies at the University of Montana in Missoula, where she will pursue an M.A. in environmental philosophy with full funding and a teaching assistant position.
