New Building Coming in 2022

The Meredith College Board of Trustees has approved the construction of a new academic building. This building is currently under construction near the Weatherspoon Gymnasium/Lowery Fitness Center and will provide new, cutting-edge instructional space for Meredith’s growing health, exercise and sports science and communication programs.

Weatherspoon Athletic Center

Weatherspoon Athletic Center includes a gymnasium, a fitness center, and 5,000 square-foot dance studio. The gym includes space for basketball, volleyball, badminton, exercise classes and other activities.

Lowery Family Fitness Center

The Lowery Family Fitness Center houses 11 treadmills, 8 bikes, 8 elliptical cross trainers, 4 ascent trainers, 2 rowers, and 6 power lifting racks. There are also free weights, kettlebells, resistance machines, physio balls, medicine balls, bands, and accessory equipment available. All of the cardio equipment includes QR codes that can be scanned into the LFconnect App to record the exercise, sets, repetitions, and weight lifted.

Human Performance Lab

Health, Exercise and Sports Science students utilize the Human Performance Lab as part of their practical experience in exercise physiology, motor learning and exercise prescription. In addition, HESS majors have the opportunity to conduct assessments ranging from basic fitness testing to extensive metabolic evaluation.

Outdoor Teaching Areas

Outdoor teaching and activity areas include a physical education and intramural field, golf range and putting green, tennis courts, softball field, lacrosse/soccer field, track, archery range, and other recreational/leisure areas. The greenway adjacent to the campus is ideal for walking, jogging and biking.
