Parents and Families Connection

April 2023

In a recent career trek to Parker Lord, a technology and manufacturing company, Meredith students and OCP team members gained insight into current workplace expectations for career-ready graduates.  According to human resources representatives, many of these expectations are true across industries, organizations, and positions.

This year the Class of 2023 has chosen to assist Disability Services through the Senior Class Gift project. The project will be funding ADA entrance and exit signs for the remaining campus building that do not yet have them. This is a very exciting project and one that the Class of 2023 is truly passionate about! As a component of their Senior Class Gift initiative, the class held Senior Spirit Giving Week from April 3 – 6, 2023

This semester marks the first time that the Student Success Center has offered courses designed to help students develop and improve key skills that are essential to college success. The first of these courses, offered during the first half of Spring 2023, was all about time management.

Since 1953, Meredith College alumnae along with current juniors and seniors have all worn the same black onyx. This is one of the College’s most treasured campus traditions!  Whether your current student plans to participate in Ring Week and Ring Dinner in the fall or later during their time at Meredith, the following information will be helpful regarding the ordering process.

Institutional Advancement held a Scholarship and Donor Recognition Dinner on March 23, 2023, at the Embassy Suites in Cary, N.C. The dinner honored Meredith donors who give graciously to Meredith College and gave students receiving scholarships the opportunity to thank donors for supporting their education. More than 250 people were in attendance including the Board of Trustees.

Spring at the Office of International Programs (OIP) is a time when many students are preparing for summer and fall study abroad programs. However, other Meredith students have just returned from Meredith’s Italian home in Sansepolcro, Italy, after a spring break study abroad adventure.

The Emerging Leaders Seminar wrapped up its six-week series during the last week of February. The final session featured an alumnae panel during which new student leaders could hear from recent graduates about how their experiences at Meredith prepared them for their careers.

Each semester, the Alumnae Association and Office of Alumnae Relations host a student-focused event to engage, support, and foster outreach to all current students. The events provide students with an opportunity to connect with active alumnae volunteers, who share ways in which they have remained involved with their alma mater.
