Staying Connected with International Programs During Fall Semester

At September’s Study Abroad Fair, the Office of International Programs (OIP) officially launched all Summer and Fall 2023 Meredith Abroad programs and applications. Program offerings for 2023 include the Fall 2023 Semester in Italy program, perfect for first-semester sophomores who have General Education credits to fulfill—including the 9-credit foreign language requirement, which can be completed during one semester-long study abroad experience.

Shorter Meredith Abroad programs include a new spring break in Italy program, three undergraduate and two graduate summer programs in Italy, our summer United Kingdom program, and our summer language and culture program in Spain. Brochures for all programs, which include information about courses and costs, can be found in our office in 124 Lux Hall and online at meredith.edu/OIP.

Following the Study Abroad Fair, students often begin working on applications for study abroad adventures the following year. During this particular fall semester, the OIP is excited to announce a new opportunity for students interested in studying abroad: our December 5 Early Decision deadline.

Students applying for Summer 2023 Meredith Abroad programs and our Fall 2023 Semester in Italy program can apply for the program and for study abroad scholarships by December 5, 2022, and receive decisions by mid-January 2023. Receiving an acceptance earlier can give students a leg up when it comes to financial, academic, and personal planning.

With an Early Decision deadline of December 5 and a Regular Decision deadline of February 15, 2023, the upcoming Thanksgiving and winter breaks are excellent times for students to work on their applications to study abroad and for scholarships. Application materials can be found online on our website, and students can find application checklists in our office in 124 Lux Hall.

Another exciting opportunity for students to engage in campus activities is coming up next week. International Education Week is held from November 14-18 and is an annual week of events designed to celebrate international connections made on college campuses across the country. At Meredith, the OIP partners with student-led Meredith International Association (MIA) to offer events and engagement opportunities throughout the week, including World Cup-related programming and MIA’s annual UN Dinner on Wednesday, November 16.

Students can stay connected with the OIP and MIA on Instagram, check MC Connect and campus newsletters, and visit our office or website to find out more about events happening during International Education Week and throughout the year.

The Office of International Programs can be reached at internationalprograms@meredith.edu or by phone at (919) 760-2307.
