Meredith to Host American College Dance Association Regional Conference

Meredith College’s dance program will host the American College Dance Association (ACDA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, March 9-12, 2019. This is Meredith’s first time hosting the event.

More than 300 college dancers and their faculty are scheduled to attend, representing 28 schools. Most participating schools are in North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia, but out-of-region schools from Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Florida will also attend.

Meredith’s dance faculty, with support from Meredith Events, have organized more than 60 classes, six concerts, three adjudication panels, a continuous dance movie lounge in Cate Center, and the filming of a new dance for camera piece.

A team of 40 current Meredith dance students and alumnae are volunteering to help host the conference.

The ACDA’s primary focus is to support and promote the wealth of talent and creativity that is prominent throughout college and university dance departments. ACDA’s sponsorship of regional conferences and the national dance festival provides the venue for students and faculty to engage in three days of performances, workshops, panels, and master classes taught by instructors from around the region and country. The conferences also provide the unique opportunity for students and faculty to have their dance works adjudicated by a panel of nationally recognized dance professionals in an open and constructive forum.
