Meredith College Named a U.S. News Best College

Meredith College has been named one of the Best National Liberal Arts Colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The new rankings are found in the 2020 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list, which was released on September 9, 2019.

Among Top National Liberal Arts Colleges, Meredith rose to #148 from a ranking of #162 on the 2019 list.

In addition to the overall rankings, Meredith College was recognized as one of the schools with the Best Undergraduate Teaching. This ranking focuses on “schools where faculty and administrators are committed to teaching undergraduate students in a high-quality manner” and recognizes “schools with an unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.”

Meredith made its first appearance on U.S. News’ list of Best Undergraduate Business Programs among National Liberal Arts Colleges. Only schools that are accredited by AACSB International were considered for this ranking.

U.S. News also included Meredith on its list of A+ Schools for B Students. This listing considered factors including a college’s U.S. News ranking and student retention rates. To be considered, a college’s freshman-to-sophomore retention rate had to be at least 75%, because retention between the first and second year is an important indicator of student satisfaction.

The 2020 U.S. News rankings are just the most recent accolade for Meredith. In August, the College was named one of the 142 best colleges in the Southeast according to The Princeton Review’s “2020 Best Colleges: Region by Region” website feature.
