A Passion for Communication and Service – Noel Fox

Presidential Scholar and communication major Noel Fox, ’17, has wasted no time taking advantage of the opportunities that Meredith College has to offer. After graduation, she plans to begin a career in marketing and public relations.

Fox said she is grateful for the time her professors invested in her to help develop these plans. “The small student-faculty ratio at Meredith allows students to interact with professors in a way that isn’t possible at larger universities,” she said.

Resources such as the Office of Career Planning and CareerLink have also been helpful to Fox. “Not only do the faculty and staff here set high standards, they give us the encouragement and resources needed to reach those high standards,” she said.

Fox is currently a marketing intern at Morningstar Law Group, an opportunity she discovered through CareerLink. A press release she helped put together for the firm about an office relocation was recently published in the Triangle Business Journal.

Outside of her internship, Fox maintains a 4.0 GPA and has been inducted into several honor societies including Alpha Lambda Delta, Lambda Pi Eta, and Kappa Nu Sigma. She holds many leadership roles on campus as well, such as Communication Club president and Bible study leader.

As the winner of the Communication Student of the Year award for 2016, Fox is known for her ability to combine her passions for communication and service. She is an Impact Raleigh scholarship recipient, serves as an English Language Learners Tutor, and is in charge of an Operation Christmas Child fundraiser through the Communication Club.

In addition to her experiences gained on campus, Fox has studied abroad twice – once in Sansepolcro, Italy, and then in Costa Rica. As a result, she says she has strengthened her intercultural communication skills and has become more of a global citizen.

Fox also said that her time at Meredith and abroad has made her more capable of contributing to a community that fosters acceptance, where diversity is not only something to be understood, but celebrated.

“If it weren’t for the experiential learning opportunities and the inclusive community that Meredith provides, I wouldn’t be the person I am today,” she said.
