Success in Fashion – Melissa de Leon

Fashion major Melissa de Leon knows her Meredith education will never go out of style.

“Meredith has taught me how to be independent, self-motivated, and strong,” said Melissa. “Meredith gave me so many opportunities.”

While earning her degree in fashion merchandising and design, Melissa served as president of the Meredith Fashion Association. Another highlight was studying abroad through Meredith’s fashion program in Paris.

Melissa also found success at Meredith – winning first place in the Fashion Creativity Showcase at the 2014 NC Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Meeting. She was inducted into two honor societies and worked with admissions all four years, sharing her experiences with future Meredith students.

Her post-Meredith plan is to move to New York to work in the fashion world. “My ultimate dream would be to work as a stylist at Vogue,” she said.

Melissa feels ready for the challenge thanks to her Meredith professors.

“I cannot thank my professors enough; they have pushed me to be better,” Melissa said. “I am amazed at what I have learned here, the opportunities I have had, and the changes I have seen in my life.”
