Dietetic Internship Site Preceptor Pathway

Meredith College’s ACEND approved Site Preceptor Pathway Dietetic Internship is a unique option that provides interns with two secured supervised practice rotations.  The secured rotations include a 12-week Clinical/MNT rotation (which is often the most difficult site to find on your own) as well as a 4-week hospital-based food service management rotation in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area.  In addition to the secured sites, interns select and secure additional intern-identified rotations.

Site Preceptor Pathway interns complete the clinical and food service management rotations in three groups:

  • Group A interns complete the provided clinical and foodservice management rotations from August to mid-December.
  • Group B interns complete these provided rotations from January to mid-April.
  • Group C interns complete these provided rotations from late-April to early-August.

Interns will need housing and transportation in the area for the 16 weeks of rotations while in the Raleigh/Durham area.

While the clinical and hospital based food service management rotations are secured for you, Site Preceptor Pathway interns are required to find, select and secure the following intern-identified rotations:

  • 4-week food service management rotation
  • 3-week public health rotation
  • 4-week wellness rotation
  • 4-week enrichment rotation

Please note: These intern-identified rotations must be at least 100 miles outside of the Raleigh-Durham area.  Please use this Guidebook when finding your other, intern-identified rotations and preceptors.

Benefits of the Site Preceptor Pathway Program:

  • Dedicated Preceptor: A full-time, experienced preceptor for clinical and hospital-based foodservice rotations
  • Two Secured Rotations: Relieves some of the burden of procuring sites by providing interns with their 12-week clinical rotation and one of their 4-week foodservice management rotations.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to set up the remainder of the rotations in a location of their choosing (including returning to their home state) as well as at sites of their choosing,
  • Customization: Enables interns the ability to customize their internship experience
  • Endless Possibilities: Meredith College is able to work with all 50 states!

Sites and preceptors do not need to be secured prior to applying to the Meredith College Dietetic Internship, however, we strongly recommend to start the process as soon as possible. Please use this Guidebook when finding your other, intern-identified sites and preceptors.

Applications are evaluated based on the following criteria:
