Institutional Advancement held a Scholarship and Donor Recognition Dinner on February 18 at The Royal Banquet Hall. The dinner honored Meredith donors who give graciously to the College and gave students receiving scholarships the opportunity to thank donors for supporting their education.

Anticipation is already building for the release of Volume 22 of The Colton Review, Meredith’s journal of art and literature.

Professor of Art Shannon Johnstone is using her art to explore what it means to picture animals. Her curiosity about this subject led her to pursue a Ph.D. in Human-Animal Studies.

The Class of 1987 dedicated its second bench on campus on January 30. The class raised more than $10,000 for this project. Money raised supports the Grounds fund, and the ceremony honored the generosity of the 45 class members who gave to the project.

In classrooms all around Meredith’s campus, students are engaged in active learning. This is a practice that engages students actively through activities or class discussion rather than having them listen to a lecture.

Dr. Kent Lyman, professor of music and director of keyboard studies, recently completed a small concert tour with his daughter, cellist Sophie Lyman, in February.

This semester, Meredith’s History program partnered with both the North Carolina Office of Archives & History and the Carlyle Campbell Library to create multiple paid internship opportunities for history students.

In this issue, we celebrate the accomplishments of faculty and staff in career planning, dance, English, marketing, and political science.
