Faculty/Staff Italian Getaway Applications Open Soon

A popular opportunity for Meredith employees to explore the College’s Italian home, the Palazzo Alberti, and experience life in Tuscany for a week returns for 2024-25.
The Office of International Programs (OIP) invites Meredith College employees to apply to participate in the Faculty/Staff Getaway to Italy in 2024-25.
OIP is offering two travel opportunities. Participants can experience the magic of Tuscany during the December holiday season or at the beginning of summer. Option 1 is December 13 (arrive Dec. 14) – December 20, 2024, and Option 2 is May 28 (arrive May 29) – June 4, 2025.
For a nominal fee of $800 per person (airfare not included), participants will live in shared, dormitory-style accommodations within the Palazzo Alberti. Throughout the week, the group will explore Sansepolcro and Tuscany, including excursions to nearby sites of interest and an overnight stay in Florence at the conclusion of the program.
This getaway opportunity is appropriate regardless of travel experience.
“First-time international travelers are welcome and encouraged,” said Director of International Programs Brooke Shurer. “We will host multiple group meetings and a required pre-departure orientation for all participants to help you prepare for the experience.”

Emerita Professors Cathy Rodgers and Betty Webb, who both served as directors of the Meredith in Italy program, will be onsite throughout the week to orient participants to Sansepolcro and the surrounding areas.
All Meredith employees in good standing are eligible to apply for this opportunity. Employees may also bring one traveling companion who is 16 years of age or older. In the event of a waitlist, years of service to Meredith College and employees who have not previously traveled to Sansepolcro will be given priority. Employees will not need to use vacation days to participate in this program, but will need to seek approval for time off. Before applying, please discuss with your supervisor.
Online applications will open on August 20 through an announcement that will be sent via an emp_all email. The application period will close on September 13 or when the programs reach capacity. A $100 deposit is also required to complete each application. The final program balance will be due one month prior to departure.
