Thanksgiving Lunch Held for Students at the Massey House

Wednesday, November 22 marked the beginning of Meredith’s Thanksgiving break and also, the ninth year President Jo Allen continued a cherished tradition at the Massey House. While most students left campus for the break, Dr. Allen invited those here for the holiday to join her for a Thanksgiving feast.

Though the campus was quiet, the Massey House was warm and welcoming, freshly decorated for the winter holiday season. Lunch began with an opportunity for everyone to share where home is for them, which ranged from La Grange, N.C., to Qingdao, China. Guests were then invited to fill their plates from a beautiful Thanksgiving spread provided by Oakleaf Catering. The menu even included a family favorite of President Allen’s  – her mother’s strawberry pretzel salad.

Students left lunch with full bellies, heaps of leftovers, and friends they could reach out to who would also be around for the break. We are very grateful to President Allen for hosting this thoughtful event in her home over all these years!

Special thanks also to the wonderful faculty and staff who helped make this event happen: Bill Brown, Taylor Herring, Kelsey McKelvey, Dr. Jean Jackson, Dr. Betty Webb, Dr. Brooke Shurer, and Jennifer Glass.
