Special Commencement Scheduled for Lacrosse Seniors

Meredith College will hold a special commencement ceremony in Johnson Hall for members of its USA South Championship Lacrosse team at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

The ceremony is necessary because the team has qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament, and round one will take place the same day as Meredith’s regular commencement exercises.

The ceremony includes mini versions of Meredith graduation traditions including Class Day, Baccalaureate, and Commencement.

The following team members are scheduled to graduate: Olivia Higgs, Julie Capretti, Holly Hite, Madison Watkins, Sarah Arbes, and Carlee Joseph. Joseph, who is completing the five year engineering dual degree program, is a current volunteer coach with the team. In addition, fourth-year senior Julia Doyle, who will complete the engineering dual degree program in 2020, will also be recognized.

The Meredith College Avenging Angels captured the program’s sixth consecutive USA South Women’s Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, April 27 with a 26-1 victory over second-seed Averett.
