Rock-N-Roll Marathon to Run Through Meredith Campus

The Rock-N-Roll Marathon will be run in Raleigh on Sunday, April 12, including a one-mile segment through the Meredith College campus.

The marathon, in its second running, is a unique opportunity to showcase the College to approximately 1,200 marathoners who are expected to run through campus.

Runners will enter campus through the Faircloth entrance about 7:45 a.m. with the last marathoners departing Meredith by 10:45 a.m. The route will take runners behind Poteat and through the softball parking lot around the back loop of campus. Marathoners will wrap around Weatherspoon and run behind Belk Dining Hall exiting back onto Faircloth.

As part of the tradition of the Rock-N-Roll Marathon, the Meredith loop will feature a live DJ during the race. Music will serve to energize runners and fans and will maintain the entertainment theme present throughout the marathon.

In addition to music this race posts spirit groups along the path to cheer for runners and support their efforts. The athletics department is soliciting Meredith Spirit Groups to serve on the “Speed Bump Brigade” throughout our campus. We hope to place a group at each of the approximately dozen speed bumps to alert runners of the approaching obstacle.
