Parents and Families Raise Money for Outdoor Spaces

On Wednesday, November 9, Meredith College parents and families raised $14,700 in 24 hours toward this year’s project to enhance campus outdoor spaces. The goal was $10,000. The Jessie Ball duPont Fund is also providing matching funds for a portion of the total raised, so the final total will be even higher.

Meredith’s campus has beautiful outdoor spaces used year-round by students, faculty, staff, and visitors.  Money raised will enable the College to purchase tables, chairs, and umbrellas for new and existing patios for all to enjoy relaxing, studying, visiting with friends, eating lunch, or working.

The 24-hour event was promoted to parents and families via email, the Parents and Families Facebook page, and the Meredith Facebook and Instagram pages. Donors were able to give online. The Meredith Fund is pleased to announce that this was the largest fall parents and families appeal to date. The Parents and Families project for outdoor space enhancement will continue until the end of the fiscal year, so there is still time to make a gift

“We are excited about this year’s Parents and Families Project to enhance campus outdoor spaces because it will positively impact ALL students as well as faculty/staff and visitors,” said Kim Whitley, ʼ85, parents engagement and reunion giving officer. “Our campus is so beautiful and this project will make it even more enjoyable for everyone.  We hope to meet our goal of raising $50,000 this year to really make a difference for the Meredith community.”
