Meredith Community Invited to Library Refurbishment Reception April 4

The Library and Learning Center invites everyone to join us in celebrating our new furniture, new lighting, and freshly painted walls. We’ve also converted one of our bathrooms to be fully ADA-compliant. On April 4, from 4-6 p.m., we are having a reception to show off the new look. Drop in to get an afternoon snack and see the changes.

While you’re here, take a look at our display of recent faculty publications, see the new equipment in our group study rooms, visit the Learning Center, browse our book displays, borrow a board game, and talk with us about how we can support you and your students.

The Library partnered with Erin Allen and PMC Commercial Interiors to select new furniture for the main floor. Allen is a graduate of Meredith’s Interior Design program and has worked with us on other projects. Bernard Minter wrangled the big project of repainting the entire library interior, coordinating contractors, and advising us on the painting process. The Interior Design program advised us on paint color selections and lighting temperatures. Phil Korest, the Sustainability Manager, helped relamp most of the lights on the main and top floors, replacing fluorescent bulbs with LED bulbs which will significantly improve the library’s energy footprint. Many others from Facilities Services have contributed to our update, including the conversion of a bathroom to be ADA-compliant, cleaning everything after painting, and helping us rehang signs and art on newly painted walls.

We hope you like the changes as much as we do.
