Meredith College Autism Earns BHCOE Reaccreditation

BHCOE Accreditation has recognized the Meredith College Autism Program (MAP) with a Two-Year Reaccreditation, acknowledging the program as a behavioral service provider dedicated to continuous improvement in applied behavior analysis.

“MAP applies ABA principles in both the structured and natural environments to teach developmentally appropriate skills across all domains. The goal is for the clients enrolled to acquire and generalize taught skills and behaviors to be functional in their daily life,” said Program Director Hilary Wilkinson.  “We are proud to earn BHCOE Reaccreditation. Our dedicated team will continue working to empower families to implement learned principles to foster independence and participation in their home and community.”

BHCOE Accreditation recognizes behavioral health providers that excel in the areas of clinical quality, staff qualifications and consumer satisfaction and promote systems that enhance these areas. These areas are measured with a wide-ranging audit, including interviews with agency clinical leadership, in-depth on-site observation, a detailed staff qualification review, an anonymous staff satisfaction survey and an anonymous consumer satisfaction survey.

BHCOE Accreditation is the only applied behavior analysis (ABA)-specific accreditation. It provides feedback regarding clinical best practices, staff satisfaction and turnover, and consumer protection. Acting as a third-party, the organization systematically measures and reports on existing quality criteria in the behavior analysis community using standardized methods and practices, and accredits only those service agencies that meet these standards.

About Meredith College Autism Program
The Meredith Autism Program (MAP) is an early intervention program serving children diagnosed on the autism spectrum. MAP also serves as a practicum course for undergraduate students at Meredith College to learn how to apply ABA principles with young children with autism. The program provides an intensive behavioral intervention where children with autism can acquire developmentally appropriate skills across all areas. The foundation of all teaching is in the basic Applied Behavior Analysis techniques of showing the child what to do (prompting) and encouraging the child when appropriate (reinforcement). MAP believes that all hours of the day are teachable moments, whether done through discrete trial teaching in structured tasks, capturing motivation during child-directed play, or contriving situations in the natural environment to ensure the generalization of skills taught.
