Memoirs: Unveiling Identity Featured in Meredith’s Weems Gallery

The Fall 2023 Senior Art Exhibition, Memoirs: Unveiling Identity, will be featured in the Frankie G. Weems Gallery at Meredith College. Four emerging artists will showcase their artistic growth and development during their undergraduate program.

Camille Duncan, Hannah Cox, Kelly Johnson, and Morgan Thompson are studio art, graphic design, and art education majors who are proud to share their milestones through their extensive and diverse portfolios.

The seniors partake in the preparation and execution of an exhibition consisting of their own work from their studies at Meredith College. Memoirs: Unveiling Identity is an accumulation of works from the artists who have poured their identity and experiences into artworks that best represent their journey as artists and as individuals. Through multimedia and overall experiences, each artist is showcasing what they believe to be their true identity. The word memoir references a written account of someone’s life or a historical event. As these artists have grown and gained experience, they have unveiled their identity to themselves by ‘writing’ their stories into their art.

Memoirs will take place November 16-December 14, 2023, at the Frankie G. Weems Gallery in the Gaddy-Hamrick Art Center on the Meredith College campus. The gallery is open weekdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and weekends 2 p.m.-5 p.m. The opening reception will be held on November 16, 2023, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. in the Weems Gallery. The gallery talk will take place in Room 137 in the Gaddy-Hamrick Art Center from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
