Library’s Murder Mystery Event Spring 2023: Harry Potter

The library’s annual Murder Mystery event was held on Friday, February 10. The event generated a lot of excitement as this year’s theme was Harry Potter— a favorite among so many students.

To further stir up excitement, the library held a potion-making class on the Wednesday leading up to the event. This class walked students through creating Harry Potter themed sensory bottles. Students had a blast creating these beautiful “potions,” and they were eager to return on Friday for the main event.

On the night of the event, the library was transformed into Hogwarts. Candles hovered above a feast of appetizers and snacks. As students flowed into the library, they were greeted by two photo booths that they took full advantage of throughout the evening. What the students didn’t see was a dementor waiting upstairs as they ran around trying to solve the “murder.”

Students in a group look at the prize table with mugs, socks, and pens.

Once all the teams finished their investigation, the first group to finish announced their murder suspect, the location of the crime, and murder weapon. They were successful in their investigation and were rewarded with a choice from the prize table. After the murder was solved, students had two more chances to win, with a coloring contest and a costume contest. Everyone was welcomed to take stickers too that were created by student workers!

The murder mystery’s theme for next year will be Malice in Wonderland so stay tuned…
