Join us for Cornhuskin’ on November 6

Cornhuskin' is only a couple of weeks away! We look forward to families joining us on campus for this special tradition on Friday, November 6, 2015.

The Cornhuskin’ schedule includes the following events on Friday:

Parade - 3:30 p.m. along the Front Drive of campus
Picnic - 4:45 p.m. in the Courtyard (dinner is $8/person - cash only, and is free for students with a meal plan)
Competition – 6 p.m. in the Amphitheater
After Cornhuskin' Breakfast and Party in Belk Dining Hall

Your student will receive information regarding wristband distribution for guests on Monday, October 26, and will be notified by November 2 if they received guest wristbands. If you are not granted a wristband to view the competition within the Amphitheater, there are two wonderful viewing alternatives:

Climate-controlled seating and a live video feed of the Cornhuskin' performances will be available in Jones Auditorium starting at 5:00 p.m. The Meredith College Young Alumnae Board (YAB) is hosting the indoor viewing and will provide an emcee to speak throughout the event. The YAB looks forward to providing a similar experience to those viewing outdoors, with additional exciting elements. Popcorn and refreshments will be provided by the Parents Council for those viewing in Jones Auditorium!

Additional highlights of the indoor viewing option include:

  • Giveaways to spectators
  • Trivia games and entertainment during performance breaks
  • Parade of classes prior to the competition beginning
  • Special guest emcees throughout the event

Alternatively, guests are welcome to sit (in chairs, on blankets, etc.) on the hills on either side of the amphitheater and outside of the gated area – this space is first-come/first-served. These spaces offer views of the amphitheater stage and are good options for seating outside of the crowded amphitheater.
