Important 2016-17 Dates for Financial Assistance

New this year: Families are able to file for financial aid earlier than ever! For the 2017-18 academic  year, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens on October 1, 2016. However, Meredith’s priority deadline to apply for financial aid (scholarships, grants, loans, work study) continues to be March 15, 2017.

In the past, the FAFSA required the most recent tax year’s information. The FAFSA will now use tax information from two years prior. Meredith recommends using IRS Data Retrieval to input 2015 tax information for the 2017-18 FAFSA. To file your FAFSA, visit fafsa.ed.gov.  Reminder: you do not need to pay to complete and submit the FAFSA.

After you file, you will receive a confirmation email from the FAFSA processor (Department of Education). This means that your information will be transmitted to Meredith from the FAFSA processor. Once Meredith receives the information, we notify you if we need any additional documents. Current students are awarded financial aid after spring semester grades are posted in May.
