Groundbreaking Ceremony April 30 for New Academic Building

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to a groundbreaking ceremony for Meredith’s new academic building that will house instructional space for communication and exercise and sports science programs, and athletic offices. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on April 30, 2021, at the building site adjacent to Weatherspoon Gymnasium and Lowery Fitness Center.

The new academic facility is approximately 13,000 square foot building and will include specialized spaces such as an agency-style classroom, a media studio, editing rooms, a human performance lab, an assessment lab, a conference room, common areas, and athletic offices.

Meredith College has selected Design Development Architects for the design of the College’s new academic building project. The firm has practiced in Raleigh and throughout the Southeast for 33 years.

Inland Construction has been selected as the general contractor. Inland Construction Company, with headquarters in Garner, N.C., is a full-service commercial contractor specializing in design-build partnerships and negotiated private construction.

Construction on the new building is expected to be completed during the 2021-22 academic year.
