Greetings from the Alumnae Association President

Greetings from the Alumnae Association!  Let me introduce myself — I’m the new President of the Association. I graduated in 1972 when my name was Claire Sullivan. I was a history major, I sang in the Ensemble and the Chorale, I went to London my senior year to study political science, but my greatest college achievement was getting an A from Dr. Norma Rose one of the four semesters I studied under her! (I had far too much fun in college to get more than one!) I was also the daughter of a Meredith faculty member/alum, sister to two other Meredith alums who were both in college with me, and I am mother to three more. We breathe burgundy and white — and onyx!

I had a wonderful time at college with the women in my class and those around us, our big sis/little sis classes and those just ahead and behind us. Having just been to Reunion Weekend where I began my duties as your President, I was reminded of this. My big sister class was having their reunion and while it was good to see all of them, it would have been even better if I could have seen more of the women I went to college with at the same time.

Over that weekend, more than a couple of alums mentioned the same thing to me. They wished they could see more people from other classes when they returned to reunions, not just their classmates.

As you know, we hold reunions on five year cycles. This means no one is ever at reunion weekend with people who were in college when they were other than their Classmates. Do you think it would be fun to be able to see all classes participate in an event? Would Cornhuskin’ be a good time to do that — perhaps incorporate into Homecoming? Just a thought.

Let me know what you think!
