Friends of the Library Opportunities

As an alumna of Meredith College, the Carlyle Campbell Library is still here to support you!  We host many engaging events throughout the year and offer a myriad of services for our alumnae.  We invite you to come to explore our books and the rest of the library’s expansive collection.

As an alumna of the College, you have borrowing privileges at the library, but we encourage you to take this opportunity to go one step further and support the library by joining the Friends of the Library.  By becoming a member of the Friends of the Carlyle Campbell Library, you ensure that the library can provide the best services to both current and future Meredith students. With a membership, you will receive invitations to Friends’ events twice a year and reduced fees for Friends’ events.

Some of our recent speakers have included professor and novelist, Philip Gerard and the Food Editor for the News & Observer, Debbie Moose.  Through our partnership with Quail Ridge Books, we have co-sponsored events with Erik Larsen, Ann Patchett, Jodi Picoult, and many, many more!  We have virtually hosted programs that highlight the talents of our Meredith students, including a musical performance and talk with Meredith’s own talented cello quartet titled The Voice of the Cello, a viewing and panel discussion on  The Activists—  an original devised theater work created by Meredith College students, and a marvelous poetry reading by four esteemed poets.

While you consider joining our wonderful and active group of library supporters, we invite you to join us for The Power of Effective Design in the Literary Landscape: NCLR, North Carolina’s Best-Kept Secret Revealed presented by Professor of Art and Graphic Design Program Director, Dana Lovelace on Tuesday, March 22 at 7 p.m.  Professor Lovelace will highlight her work on the North Carolina Literary Review and will discuss the uniqueness of designing a publication with readership in mind.  You can register for this free, virtual event at https://tinyurl.com/FriendsSpring2022.  We hope you can join us for an evening with Friends!

For more information or to start your membership, please visit: https://infotogo.meredith.edu/friends  There, you will also find recordings of our past programs, including The Voice of the Cello from this past fall!
