First Strategic Planning Summits Scheduled

Meredith College’s strategic plan, Meredith Forever, began with a community-wide visioning event in January 2012.  The resulting plan included six pillars—educational excellence, optimal enrollment, facilities and IT, financial strength, marketing and visibility, and quality of life—that served as the major themes and areas of commitment that guided the College’s initiatives and resources.

For the next iteration of the strategic plan, which will encompass 2023-26, Meredith College will host a community summit for each pillar. President Jo Allen shared initial information about the summits during the State of the College address and in an email message to employees.

It is expected that each summit will have a similar format, with the opening remarks introducing the foundational concepts undergirding each pillar, a brief Q & A to clarify terms or processes, and ending with break-out groups to brainstorm ideas for advancing the College in that pillar’s domain.

“As with prior strategic planning sessions, we will have those ideas sorted by the accountable areas, resources available/needed, and timelines that will be streamlined into priorities to be approved by the Board of Trustees at its June 2023 meeting,” said President Jo Allen.

The first two summits are scheduled for September and October.

  • Optimal Enrollment, September 22 from 3:30 – 5 p.m. in Jones Auditorium.
  • Educational Excellence, October 26 from 3:30 – 5 p.m. in Jones Auditorium.

All faculty and staff are invited to attend in person. The opening presentations will also be available on Zoom.

Additional summit dates will be announced later in the fall.  The goal is to hold summits for all six pillars by the end of February, giving college leadership time to sift through ideas, calculate needed resources, and format the drafted plan to be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval at its June meeting.
