FAFSA Changes for 2024-25

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form has been simplified as part of the FAFSA Simplification Act, which was passed as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021.

The changes to the 2024-25 financial aid application are intended to make the FAFSA easier to complete. However, the changes also mean the 2024-25 FAFSA release has been delayed. While it typically opens in October, this year the application will be available by December 31, 2023; a specific release date has not yet been determined, but students can be on the lookout for the date. Other changes include fewer questions, expanded eligibility for federal student aid, and a more streamlined application process.

“Our hope is that these changes will make it easier for students and families to apply for aid,” said Kevin Michaelsen, director of financial assistance at Meredith. “They have significantly reduced the number of questions, which is welcome news.”

Once the FAFSA application opens, it is important that students apply as soon as possible. Priority deadlines for students applying early decision, early action, and regular decision can be found on Meredith’s website. When students and families complete the FAFSA, they should also be sure to include Meredith’s school code 002945 so that the Office of Financial Assistance can view their data for aid eligibility.

As they have in past years, students and parents will need an account, or an FSA ID, to complete the FAFSA. The process to sign up for an account is much the same as prior years. Financial aid offers are made after admission to the College and after the FAFSA is submitted.

International and undocumented applicants should submit Meredith’s Institutional Aid Application.
