Faculty/Staff Accomplishments and News Briefs August 2022

In this issue, we celebrate the accomplishments of faculty and staff in child development, English, and psychology. We also share updates about the campus map and employee business card/directory options.

Assistant Professor of English Zach Linge recently had a poem published in The Atlantic. View Dr. Linge’s poem on theatlantic.com.

Assistant Professor of Psychology Betty-Shannon Prevatt and Assistant Professor of Child Development  Pamela Norcross attended the International Congress of Infant Studies (ICIS) in Ottawa, Canada July 7-11, and were both co-authors on several poster presentations. Dr. Norcross presented as first author a poster titled Prenatal Group Care as a Facilitator of Maternal Mental Health Screening; Dr. Prevatt presented a poster as first author titled Importance of Patient-Provider Racial Minority Concordance in Postpartum Depression Screening.

Dr. Norcross and Dr. Prevatt also supervised an undergraduate research student, Joselyn Marroquin Aparicio, ’22, who has been working in their Advancing Insight into Maternal Social Support (AIMSS) research lab.  Joselyn submitted a first author poster titled Risk of Prenatal Depression and Anxiety Symptoms on Birth Outcomes: Role of Race and SES.  It is to be noted that Joselyn received the runner-up award for best undergraduate abstract submission to the ICIS conference for this poster, winning runner-up out of hundreds of students from around the country and around the world.  This is a great achievement for Joselyn and Meredith College undergraduate research.  Dr. Norcross will serve a first term on the student committee for the upcoming ICIS 2024 conference.

Adding Pronouns to Business Cards and Online Directory
Meredith employees who would like to order new business cards are welcome to include personal pronouns along with their other information using the College’s e-print system. (Please note that business cards and other stationery are typically ordered through departmental assistants.) When putting in a request, employees who would like to include pronouns may add them to the end of their name or in the second title field. Personal pronouns may also be included in the College’s online directory on meredith.edu. Use the website update form found on the Marketing Department’s page on MyMeredith to ask for this addition.
