Faculty Members Present at Professional Conference

Professor of Chemistry Walda Powell and Assistant Professor of Chemistry Sasha Ormond presented at the 251st National American Chemical Society Conference in San Diego, Calif., on March 12. Powell’s presentation was “Preparation and characterization of 4-thiophenyl-1,1,1-trifluoro-2-butanone and its sulfoxide” and Ormond’s presentation was “Quantitative analytical chemistry as a writing intensive course.” One of Ormond’s students, Crystal Gunther, also attended, and presented her work on the Environmental Sustainability Initiative project from summer 2015, “Natural sources used as light harvesters in dye-sensitized solar cells.” Gunther’s presentation was on March 13.
