As we head into the second half of the fall semester, the Office of Career Planning (OCP) continues to offer a wide variety of opportunities for students to focus on their professional development and connect with employers.
The world of work has shifted immensely over the past two years, and while much has changed about the way employers are recruiting and identifying early talent, the demand for students and recent college graduates with the skills employers are seeking has only continued to increase.
Our team is keeping a pulse on recruiting trends and planning accordingly; we’ve found success in connecting students with employers through avenues such as career topic-focused employer panels, Mock Interview Week, and Employer Resume Blitzes, providing students with opportunities to connect one-on-one with employers in unique ways through the virtual space.
Have a December or May grad? We want to hear from them!
We recognize these past few years have been challenging for our students, especially those who are actively job seeking and adjusting to these new recruiting methods. Through these difficult times, they have remained resilient and strong — and we want to celebrate that!
If your December or May grad would like the chance to be featured as a Senior Spotlight on OCP’s social media channels, please encourage them to fill out this Google Form. A Senior Spotlight allows your student the opportunity to share a little bit about their professional journey including extracurricular activities, internships, and even their plans after graduation. (P.S. It is completely normal if they don’t know their post-grad plans yet — and let your students know that support from OCP continues for them post-graduation. We’re here to help!)

Parents and families play a pivotal role in the career development process; being supportive of your student’s exploration and experiential learning will be essential to their success! Initiate conversations about your students’ career plans following graduation, and encourage your students to take advantage of the resources our career counselors provide!
