The faculty of Meredith's dance program will present a concert on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Auditorium. This event is part of the North Carolina Dance Festival Weekend.
The Meredith College Dance Faculty Concert is an evening of work choreographed and performed by dance faculty Sarah Bean, Carol Finley, Eleanor Smith, and Alyson Colwell-Waber. One of the dances, Every Little Movement, is a trio that noted choreographer Gerri Houlihan has set on Finley, Bean, and Colwell-Waber.
Meredith College hosts the North Carolina Dance Festival, September 18-20. The weekend presents contemporary dance via three mainstage concerts. On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the NC Dance Festival Concert brings to Raleigh some of the best modern dance choreographers from across the state. This year’s artists, chosen in a blind adjudication process are: Anna Barker (Durham), Amy Love Beasley (Winston-Salem), Thomas DeFrantz (Durham), Karola Luttringhaus (Wilmington), Killian Manning (Durham), and Jan Van Dyke (Greensboro). The family-oriented ALL-Dance Concert on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. celebrates dance of youth in middle and high school, young adults, and community professionals. This year’s program will include Ligon Middle School, Broughton High School, Rainbow Dance Company, Meredith College, NC State University, and a group of public school dance educators from Wake County.
All performances are in Jones Auditorium and are free to the Meredith community. Public tickets are priced at $15 general; $10 students/seniors; $5 for children under 10. There is also a $25 festival pass. For ticket reservations call (919) 760-2840.
