Celebrate International Education Week

Meredith’s Office of International Programs has a series of events scheduled during November as part of International Education Week.

While International Education Week is officially November 15-20, Meredith College will have events throughout the month.

The observance begins on Friday, Nov. 13 with a China-themed International Coffee House, hosted by the Meredith International Association, from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. in the Dogwood room in Belk Dining Hall. The Coffee House will include a special presentation from Professor Jianwei Wang, one of Meredith’s visiting scholars from China.

On Saturday, Nov. 14, the College will hold its first reunion for alumnae who participated in study abroad while at Meredith. This event is open to Meredith graduates, and will also include current and former study abroad faculty who traveled with attendees.

The following events are all open to students interested in studying abroad.

Italy Fall 2016 Semester Program information session
Monday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m., SMB 162
Learn more about spending a semester studying in the Meredith in Italy program in Sansepolcro.

Study Abroad Funding Workshop
Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m., Ledford 101 
Learn about study abroad scholarships and other funding opportunities, how to create a study abroad budget, how to utilize financial aid, and more.

Passport Fair at NC State
Wednesday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Witherspoon Student Center, NC State campus
At the Passport Fair, renew or apply for a passport without an appointment and cut standard processing time in half. Attend at your convenience or go with others from Meredith at 1:30 p.m. This event is open to the public. Email internationalprograms@meredith.edu if you’d like to attend with the Meredith group.

Meredith Abroad Summer Fair
Friday, Nov. 20, 10 a.m., First Floor Cate Center
Explore the study abroad programs available through Meredith College for summer 2016. Talk with study abroad faculty and Meredith students who have studied abroad during the summer. The first 100 attendees who show they follow @meredithabroad on Instagram receive a free cupcake!

This week will also mark the official launch of the Office of International Program’s new Go Strong. Go Global. campaign. T-shirts, pens, stickers, and other items will be available throughout the week. Students who turn in their study abroad applications will receive a special prize. Visit the Office of International Programs in Joyner 124 to order your own “Go Strong. Go Global.” T-shirt for $10.

For more than 40 years, Meredith has been committed to education abroad. Students can choose to study for a semester or summer through the Meredith in Italy program or they can study throughout the world on Meredith Abroad faculty-led summer program. Other options are available through Meredith Affiliate provider programs
