Avenging Angels Return to Action

For the first time since March 2020, the Meredith College Avenging Angels returned to competition this month. Beginning with the women’s basketball team, who won against Greensboro College on Friday, Jan. 15, each of Meredith’s sports programs are set to compete this semester.
The fall sports of soccer, volleyball, and cross country are next on the radar, each with abbreviated schedules, and spring sport start dates are still in discussion by league administration.
Since the USA South recently announced a no-spectator policy for indoor sport venues, fans will need to follow the Avenging Angels via live video broadcasts and live statistics. Links will be made available on the sport schedules. No decisions have been announced regarding spectators at Meredith outdoor venues.
Basketball will compete within the East Division only with double-header weekends scheduled through the end of February. Postseason will begin March 3. Other competition schedules will be posted soon, and fans should follow the Avenging Angels on social media and this website for any changes along the way.
Our first priority is the safety of student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and other game day staff. See the College’s Community Standards for more details. A recent development allows for Meredith’s sports medicine staff to receive the Covid-19 vaccination alongside other frontline workers. Managing the care of the more than 140 Meredith student-athletes, the athletic trainers will now have one more layer of protection from the virus.
