Admissions Holds Event for First Generation College Students

The Office of Admissions hosted a virtual event for first generation admitted students in January 2021 in two parts: “I’m First: Navigating Financial Assistance” and “I’m First: The Advantages of Campus Resources.”  

Spearheaded by Admissions Counselor Brittany McCray, the two-part event was designed to guide first generation students through a successful transition to college. The offices of Financial Aid, StrongPoints, Student Leadership & Service, Residence Life, and First Year Experience presented information and answered questions during the event.

Admissions Counselor Brittany McCray stated, “At Meredith College, first generation students are celebrated! They offer a rich experience to the campus community, and are deeply committed to academic excellence.”  

McCray added, “Transitioning to college can be difficult for any student, but by providing events specifically for first generation students, we are contributing to their long term success.”
