Profile

Kelly Morris Roberts, PhD is an Associate Professor of English and Program Coordinator for 6-9 and 9-12 English licensure for prospective teachers at Meredith College, Raleigh, NC. Dr. Roberts also directs study abroad programs in Belize, Italy, and London, where her courses focus on young adult literature specific to those countries, postcolonial literature, and/or service learning in literacy. Her research interests include written reflections of pre-service and in-service teachers, written reflections on content area courses and goals-setting (e.g., Gallup Strengthsquest), portfolio assessment, gifted education, teacher education, and teacher retention. Dr. Roberts’ current research is a longitudinal study that explores the intersection of autobiographical reflection, Strengths inquiry and goal-setting, critical thinking, and experiential learning. Her most recent publication, “Reflection as Praxis and Practice: Self Understanding, Growth, and Gifted Education” grows out of this project and will appear in Teaching for High Potential, a publication of the National Association for Gifted Children, in late 2018/2019.
