An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Monday, repeating until October 24, 2023
September 11:
Is a Biden-Trump Rematch in 2024 a Done Deal?
Many pundits talk and write about the 2024 presidential campaign as a certain rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Today’s session will explore how recent American history would suggest that, although this matchup is likely, there is still a great deal of uncertainty in terms of who the major party nominees will be.
September 18:
Can a candidate run from prison? Can a president serve from prison? Who is Hunter Biden and how will he affect the 2024 campaign?
If the Biden-Trump rematch happens, most of us would be hard-pressed to think of two candidates with more political baggage than those two. This session will explore the role of legal issues and political scandal in affecting voter behavior.
September 25:
Is abortion really a game changer in terms of the 2024 elections?
Since the 2022 Dobbs decision by the Supreme Court, experts have said that this issue will be the most important issue affecting voting in 2024. In this session, we will examine whether abortion will be a game-changer or if other issues might be more influential next fall.
October 2:
How polarized is the electorate?
We’ve all heard about red states and blue states, or how people in urban areas think and vote differently than people in rural areas. This session will explore political polarization, its complexity, and how it might affect the 2024 elections.
October 9:
Should we pay attention to polls in 2023?
Even though we are over a year out from the 2024 elections, there are polls released regularly reporting on who might be the next president, control Congress, etc. This session will explore the nature of political polling, especially polling that occurs before the candidates are known.
October 16:
What about the governor’s race in North Carolina? What about the other NC races in 2024?
Although many Americans focus on presidential politics, especially the year before a presidential election, the elections for state offices may have more impact on our daily lives than who resides in the White House. This session will discuss the state offices being filled by the 2024 elections and the likely consequences of the 2024 vote.
October 23:
Where do we stand 373 days before Election Day 2024?
At the end of the 2023 series, we have only scratched the surface of topics that may impact the 2024 elections. In this session, we will examine topics that have surfaced during the series or issues that may be on the horizon for the next twelve months.
