Megumi Naganoma, In-Rage, Art Exhibition Opening Reception & Gallery Talk

February 9, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

In-RageArtExhibition

The Frankie G. Weems Gallery at Meredith College features the work of Megumi Naganoma. Born and raised in South Florida, Megumi is an interdisciplinary artist whose experiences and research inspire her work on bringing awareness to sexual violence and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Megumi dominantly works in fabric, drawing, and video. Her practice responds to current events, stigmas, and societal norms revolving around rape culture. Using these methods, she advocates for rape survivors while keeping various audiences in mind by starting conversations that continue to shed light on something that is often still seen as taboo.

“In-Rage” is on exhibition from January 23rd – March 12th, 2023, at the Frankie G. Weems Gallery at Meredith College. An opening reception and gallery talk will take place on February 9th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, with the gallery talk from 5:30 – 6:30 pm in room 137 at the Gaddy-Hamrick Art Center. Current hours at Frankie G. Weems Gallery are Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

We would also like to thank our community sponsor InterAct. InterAct is the only provider of domestic violence and sexual assault services in Wake County, North Carolina – saving lives, rebuilding lives, and securing safer futures for individuals and families in our community.

InterAct materials will be available at the exhibition for those wishing to connect with their supportive services.
