A study of the short story as a literary genre. Readings include American and international authors, with attention to historical development, cultural contexts, and contemporary innovations and experimentation. The course is a literature elective, and it fulfills the ethical perspectives and writing intensive requirements of General Education. Prerequisite: ENG 200
