Study Abroad Peer Ambassadors join the Office of International Programs (OIP) in supporting study abroad efforts across campus, at admissions events, and in one-on-one conversations with students who are considering incorporating an international experience into their academic plans. The OIP is proud to work with such strong study abroad alumnae.
Teressa Berton is a member of the class of 2018 and a Mass Communication major. She studied on the Meredith Abroad: Whole Program in Italy, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom in the summer of 2015. Madison Burton is a member of the Class of 2018 majoring in Psychology and Child Development. She participated in study abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, through the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS). Madison took courses in both neuroscience and child development, which included study tours to different parts of Europe. She was able to visit Turkey, Germany, and Sweden. Studying abroad has been one of the most rewarding experiences she has had while attending Meredith College. “I have become independent and confident through learning to navigate through and jump into new cultural situations. Ann Cox is an honors junior majoring in International Studies with minors in Political Science and English. She spent the fall of 2015 with Meredith in Sansepolcro, Italy. One of her most treasured memories is getting to utilize the skills she learned throughout the semester during an independent travel to Sorrento, where she navigated an assortment of transportation, climbed Mount Vesuvius, conquered her fear of caves to see the Blue Grotto, and carried several conversations completely in Italian. It was such an empowering educational experience!

Blake Elmore is a junior double majoring in Fashion Merchandising & Business Administration with a minor in Marketing. She studied abroad with Meredith in Paris, France in the summer of 2016. She values the Paris: Fashion Program due to the many career related opportunities that can be taken advantage of. During Blake's stay she acquired an internship in the Elie Saab ready-to-wear showroom and worked backstage as a dresser during both men's and women's Paris fashion week. Her favorite experience was riding a hot air balloon across the Loire Valley.

Shannon Stancu-Goldberg is a junior majoring in Psychology and Public Health at Meredith College. She studied abroad with Meredith in Italy during the spring of 2016. Out of all of her amazing experiences, her favorite memory was coming home from the excursions to Sansepolcro. The experience of walking under the arch into town instantly created a sense of ease and security. Seeing the familiar faces of the locals as she walked up and down the corso and the shop owners smiling at her through the storefront windows made for a pleasant environment. She always knew that no matter what happened during her adventures outside the walls of Sansepolcro, she could always come home.

Caitlyn Grimes studied abroad in the summer of 2016 on the Meredith Abroad: Whole Program in Sansepolcro, Italy, and London, England. She is a junior majoring in Political Science with a concentration in Pre-Law and Communication with a concentration in Interpersonal Communications. Caitlyn says, “Studying abroad is essential for college students to step away and discover themselves through the adventures that studying abroad presents. I met some of my best friends, I learned about various cultures, and I learned a lot about myself. These are things that I would not have been able to achieve if I didn’t spend two months abroad. I am a changed person, and I highly recommend studying abroad to everyone.”

Samantha Hester studied abroad in the spring semester of her freshman year with Meredith in Sansepolcro, Italy (Meredith’s second home in Italy). This was a Psychology based program. “I really enjoyed my time in Italy, and I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with anyone interested in studying abroad.”

Lily Hiott is a junior at Meredith in the Class of 2018 studying Chemistry and Spanish. She studied with Meredith Abroad in Spain during the summer of 2016. Her favorite experience while there was getting to walk about 23 km of El Camino. She also enjoyed getting to visit the many beautiful beaches of Galicia (Northern Spain).

Baileigh Jones is currently a junior in the Class of 2018. She is majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources and a double minor in Accounting and Spanish. She studied with Meredith Abroad: Business in China. “I studied abroad in China last summer in Beijing and Shanghai. Two of my favorite memories while studying abroad in China were climbing the Great wall and touring the Beijing IBM. My experience in China was the most rewarding experience of my college career so far. I'm interested in attending grad school in Shanghai now.”

After, she traveled independently to Paris, Berlin, and London. Her favorite experience was going to Finisterre, Spain, otherwise known as "The End of the World." Katie Murphy is an honors junior at Meredith College, in the class of 2018. She is majoring in Public Health and Psychology with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Spanish. Katie studied with in the United Kingdom in the summer of 2015 and Spain in the summer of 2016 with Meredith College. One of the highlights of her experience was getting to see Queen Elizabeth II waving to her from the balcony of Buckingham Palace. Another was standing on the street in Porto amongst thousands of Portugueses as Portugal won the Euro Cup 2016. Katie developed great friendships with fellow students and relationships with faculty members while abroad that continue here on campus at Meredith.

Allysa Orr is a part of the Class of 2018. She is a Spanish major with plans to enter the 5+ Master’s of Arts in teaching program to receive Special Education and Spanish licensures for teaching. “I studied Spanish grammar and Chilean culture at Pontificia Universidad de Católica de Valparaíso Chile with Academic Programs International (API) in May and June of 2016. Studying abroad has opened my eyes to a whole new realm of possibilities for my future; and in relation to my major, it has deepened my appreciation for Latin American culture and broadened my knowledge of dialects of the Spanish language.”

Alex Peacock is a junior seeking a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising with a Business Marketing minor. She studied abroad with Meredith in Paris, France the summer of 2016. While abroad she had the opportunity to travel to Italy, Belgium, and other cities in France. One of her most favorite experiences was spending her 20th birthday in Florence, Italy eating pasta right beside the Duomo Cathedral. Alex interned for Elie Saab and also got to dress during Paris Fashion Week! It was an experience of a lifetime for any fashionista!

Katie Simpson is a junior studying Graphic Design and Marketing. She studied abroad with Meredith in Italy in the fall of 2015. One of her favorite experiences was having her mom come and visit for the first travel break. They spent three days in Rome visiting ancient Rome, the Vatican City and doing food tours. Mayson Stowers is a Studio Art and Psychology double major. “I studied abroad for a semester with Meredith in Sansepolcro, Italy. While exploring the many historical and artistically significant sights throughout Italy was stunning and an irreplaceable experience, some of my favorite moments while abroad happened in Sansepolcro itself. Becoming friends with some of the locals and exploring larger areas of the city as I became more comfortable with my Italian was a wonderful feeling. Also, I enjoyed taking time to just get lost in and around the city, fully emersing myself in everything.

Samantha studied abroad with IFSA-Butler at Queen Mary University in London for a spring semester. “My time in London was an enriching experience in which I was able to better myself. I learned about the world and who I am. I tried new things and was more independent. I am thankful that I had this opportunity; it was truly an amazing.
