The School of Natural and Mathematical Sciences encourages students to explore, research, and discover. In addition to a rich classroom experience, our undergraduates have ample opportunities to work with faculty and peers on original research projects in state-of-the-art facilities. We are committed to educating and supporting the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The Engineering Dual Degree Program allows you to combine a well-rounded liberal arts education at a women’s college with a degree from one of the most respected engineering programs in the country. Graduates emerge from the program uniquely qualified to take on the distinctive challenges engineers face in today’s global society.
Meredith STEM Summer College is an opportunity for rising 11th and 12th grade women to focus on mathematics and science during the summer. Students who successfully complete the course will earn three college credit hours from Meredith College.

Health Professions Advising Program at Meredith College
Pre-Health advisors work individually with students to build an academic plan that prepares them to enter their health field of interest.
Barbara Diamond, ’20, discovered a passion for chemistry at Meredith. Now she’s CEO of her own company and earning a master’s degree in cosmetic science from the University of Cincinnati.
Samantha Duerring, ’20, conducted undergraduate research on the perceptions of GMOs on Meredith’s campus.
After Spanish and biology major Cinthia Arreola, ‘21, took a course in Spanish translation during her junior year, she found new ways to support her community.
Facilities & Labs
The Science and Mathematics Building (SMB), which contains 80,000 square feet learning space, including 13 dedicated research labs that support the needs of ongoing student and faculty research.
Program graduate Kim Mournighan, ’14, credits Meredith with helping her gain admission into one of the country’s best medical schools.
Pre-Health Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program
The Meredith Pre-Health Post-Baccalaureate Certificate is the only program of its kind in the Triangle. The one-year coeducational program offers small classes, hands-on clinical experiences, individualized advising, and MCAT prep. With a graduate placement rate of 90 percent or higher, our program helps aspiring healthcare professionals get into their top schools.
