The Career Tool Kit at Meredith is a series of integrated career development activities offered in several business courses which helps students gain a competitive edge in the job market. Students develop additional skills by participating in the annual Business Attire Fashion Show, networking events with employers and alumnae, and career fairs.

The Career Tool Kit is jointly sponsored by the Office of Academic & Career Planning and the School of Business.

Resume
In ACC 220 (Financial Accounting), meet with experts from the Career Center who will help you create an effective and powerful resume.

Strengths and Career Planning
Reflect on ways to leverage your talents in a career in business in BUS 150 (Business and Society). Learn more about yourselves, what you do best, and what you want most. Address your short-term and long-term goals and your top five strengths through CliftonStrengths exercises.

Qualifications
In BUS 250 (Data Analysis), learn how you can strengthen your qualifications by networking, participating in clubs and events, and volunteering.

Cover Letter
Your cover letter is often the first thing a hiring manager or a recruiter sees. In BUS 343 (Operations Management), capitalize on this chance to shine by creating a letter that will open the door to an interview.

Mock Interview
Polish your interviewing skills by participating in a mock interview with actual employers in BUS 360 (Principles of Marketing). Get feedback about how to improve your performance.

Job Search Strategy
In BUS 370 (Corporate Finance), develop advanced job search strategies. Learn how to identify potential employers that best match your career goals using both traditional and online methods.

Internship
Gain practical, professional experience by completing an internship (BUS 480). Your chances of landing a full-time job are greatly increased after working in an internship in your field.
