Meredith College Presidential Scholarships are full tuition scholarships available each year for incoming freshmen. Like the Meredith Legacy Scholarship, the selection of a recipient for the Presidential Scholarship takes into account superior academic achievement, intellectual promise, and leadership ability.
As long as Presidential Scholars remain full-time students and maintain a minimum quality point ratio of 3.25 on all courses, they receive: Full tuition (four academic years). Opportunity for study abroad experience. Travel opportunities with the Meredith president. Participation in “Focus on Excellence” series. Induction into the Meredith Honors Program Networking with Meredith president at special events. Recipients of the Meredith Presidential Scholarship are encouraged to participate in community activities and organizations that strengthen the bond between Meredith and the community.
Applicants selected to interview for the Meredith College Presidential Scholarship are chosen from the Honors applicant pool. The criteria for awarding the scholarship are rigorous and selective. Selection criteria include superior standardized test scores (SAT/ACT); a minimum unweighted high school GPA of 3.8, based on a 4.0 grading scale; demonstrated leadership in high school, the local community, and beyond; service to others; a demonstrated curiosity about the world; and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Honors Program applicants who are selected to interview for the Presidential Scholarship will be notified prior to attending Scholars’ Day. Presidential Scholarship interviews occur with faculty, administrators and the President of Meredith.
