Creative Writing Scholarships

The Award:

Each year first year applicants are selected to receive the Louise Shingleton Shivers Scholarship for English. A student must be a full time student with an interest in creative writing. These scholarships are renewable annually for a total of four years, subject to the recipient’s remaining in good standing and maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 on all courses taken at Meredith College. Note: Students applying for talent scholarships are encouraged to apply to the College using the Early Action Application Plan and must be admitted to the College by the Talent Scholarship Application Deadline.

Details:

Each recipient will be obligated to take one course in creative writing while she is at Meredith College.

Selection Criteria:

To be considered for the Creative Writing Scholarship students must be admitted to the college by January 6th. The scholarship recipient is determined on the basis of scholarship and potential for success in creative writing. The application should have an unweighted minimum high school GPA of 3.0. Applicants for Creative Writing scholarships must send a digital portfolio of 3 – 5 pieces of creative writing (maximum of 30 pages), including poetry, fiction, and/or creative nonfiction along with the completed application.
