Winter Update from the Office of Admissions

Greetings from the Office of Admissions!  It’s hard to believe the holiday season is already upon us. The Office of Admissions has had a very busy fall in the office and on the road. Our recruiters have traveled throughout North Carolina and to states including Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Connecticut.

Discover Meredith was held on Saturday, October 17, 2015. There were 24 students and 19 alumnae who were welcomed to campus by President Jo Allen and spent the day hearing from a panel of current students and alumnae, learning about Meredith’s oldest campus traditions, and enjoying a delicious meal in the dining hall while hearing from a few guest speakers.

Alumnae played a crucial role in reaching out to prospective students in the fall during the Fall Focus Week the week of October 19-23, 2015. There were 44 alumnae who emailed 610 students who had not applied to Meredith. Alumnae encouraged these students to submit their application for admission this fall and to attend one of our Think Meredith Open House events for high school seniors. Thank you for your help!

The Spring Focus Week will take place in March. We will need alumnae to email admitted students encouraging them to attend Experience Meredith, our largest admitted student event on Saturday, March 19, 2016,  and submit their enrollment deposit. Please e-mail me directly if you would like to help during the Spring Focus Week.

Alumna in the Spotlight
I have communicated via email the past few weeks with alumna Chassie Selouane, ’01, who is an assistant principal of teaching and learning at the Sharjah American International School in Dubai. She reached out for some of our updated marketing materials because her school was having a college fair. I mailed her a packet of materials that she then displayed on her table during the college fair. As a result of the fair and Chassie’s conversations with students, there are several young woman who are interested in Meredith. The college fair was a great success!  Whether you are an alumna near or far like Chassie, your help recruiting young women to Meredith matters!

I hope you and your families have a safe and happy holiday season. I look forward to working with you in 2016.
