The fall teams are off to a strong start as both soccer and volleyball remain undefeated in USA South action after one week of conference play. Jessica Wallace earned the USA South Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week September 14 after scoring three goals in the last-second loss to Bridgewater and continues to lead Meredith’s offensive effort with 12 points on six goals.
Volleyball outside hitter Karlie Long reached a milestone during Saturday’s USA South Play Day reaching 1,004 career kills. Early in her junior season, Long’s contribution to Meredith volleyball will continue to grow as MCVB strives for another conference championship this fall.
Under direction of new Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach Leslie Payne, the cross country team earned a third-place finish in the Adidas XC Challenge college division last Friday evening. Four Avenging Angels led the way as the top Division III runners overall with freshman Macy Brinson leading the pack. Brinson earned her third consecutive USA South Rookie of the Week honor for her efforts.
This weekend’s “Super Saturday” fun includes a 1 p.m. home soccer match versus Huntingdon. Join the extra large crowd expected as Think Meredith and Parent Day are also scheduled on campus. Students will make posters during lunch to support the Avenging Angels at game time, and fans can enjoy popcorn, drinks, and other concessions during the match. Participate in the halftime Minute-To-Win-It for prizes while cheering on the Angels.
