Staying Strong Updates 8/10/20

Staying Strong Updates are reminders that will be helpful during the Fall 2020 semester. Items are either of interest to faculty/staff or on topics about which students may ask questions.

Class of 2024 Move-In and Orientation:
Tuesday, August 11-Thursday, August 13 will be freshman move-in and all will be entering through the main gate off Hillsborough street. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as staff & student leaders navigate the process at the front drive those days. Please be prepared to share the front road with families during move-in.

New Student Orientation 2020 will be held on Friday, August 14-Sunday August 16 and will be virtual this year. Students can access the virtual Orientation platform through MC Connect and will be participating in educational and social programming through pre-recorded video, Zoom meetings, and Zoom webinars and will be completing short reflections afterward to ensure session completion. The Orientation schedule, instructions in navigating the Orientation site, and information on CamCard and parking pass retrieval can be found at meredith.edu/first-year-experience/schedules.

Commencement Update for the Class of 2020: Celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2020 is important to Meredith College. A committee of faculty and staff continues to work on plans for a rescheduled celebration. After careful consideration, it has been determined that Spring 2021 is the earliest that an in-person celebration can be scheduled. An update on commencement was sent via email to the Class of 2020 on August 7.

Carlyle Campbell Library Open
As of August 10, The Carlyle Campbell Library is open to the Meredith community, with some changes to the facility and to library operations. An email was sent from Dean of Library Information Services Laura Davidson summarizing many of these updates. Visit the library’s Staying Strong library guide for more information and links to services.

Cleaning Supplies Distribution for Workspaces
As announced in July, Meredith is providing cleaning supplies that employees can use to clean their own office/work space between the routine cleanings that Meredith’s housekeeping staff provides. Meredith will provide these supplies through the Meredith Post Office and you may request supplies by using the request form found on My Meredith.
